Abstract: Ocean acoustic tomography (OAT) is an unique technology to measure the 3D structures of variable ocean currents as snap shots. In spite of innovative technology, OAT is not well prevailed over the international oceanographic community until now. The main reason for it is that instrumentation cost is so expensive and handling on the ship is heavy. Most recent progress in OAT has been accomplished by Hiroshima University group which operated compact and much less expensive systems in coastal seas. The standard method of 3D inversion is presented in the seminar and recent field data obtained in June 2016 in the Bali Strait are introduced as the best example of 3D inversion.
