Abstract:

I would like to share what it is like being a graduate chemical engineer at INEOS working as Process Engineer on the major capital project to build a new Combined Heat and Power plant. I will include the highlights and the honest day-to-day routine as well as show you some of the career paths going forward. I will share my struggles getting a UK work visa and present the student/graduate opportunities available at INEOS. Finally, I will briefly talk about our Net Zero Roadmap and the challenges to decarbonise the Grangemouth industrial site, which uses more energy than Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Perth, Dundee and Stirling combined.

Bio:

Having lived in four countries growing up, I chose to study in the world-renowned University of Edinburgh, which is famous for its international student community. Before graduating in 2019 I managed to secure a job with INEOS at the industrial cluster in Grangemouth, where I currently work as a Process Engineer, part of a project team building a new Co-generation Heat and Power plant. During university, I had summer internships at Chevron and Lukoil and my 6-month industrial placement at Lummus Technologies. Throughout the degree I played for the university’s volleyball team at BUCS, which I kept on in my working life, as well picking up tennis and hiking Munros.
