Abstract:

As global temperatures continue to rise, businesses from all sectors are implementing plans to limit their dependence on fossil fuels. Governments recognise this and as a result have created subsidies and funding to incentivise this transition to new and existing businesses. Within the chemical/process industry there is high demand for chemical engineers to work within this space and at SLR Consulting Ltd (SLR), we employ a wide range of engineers to advise our clients through this transition. As a global environmental consultancy, SLR has a large reach providing services in carbon & energy management, water & wastewater treatment, oil & gas, anaerobic digestion, and other solid waste treatment processes around the world. In this seminar, a University of Edinburgh alumni will provide a road map of their career after university and the projects/opportunities had at SLR. This seminar will also explore the alumni’s past career in Amazon and will identify the specific soft and technical skills, taught at university, needed to become a successful graduate.

Bio:

Vivek is a University of Edinburgh Chemical Engineering alumni currently working in environmental consultancy. After graduating in 2019 Vivek has worked in managerial and technical roles, first with Amazon as an Area Manager and now with SLR Consulting Ltd (SLR) as a Process Engineer. In his current role with SLR, Vivek specialises in providing technical support to clients within the anaerobic digestion (AD) industry. This includes providing due diligence, owner’s engineer, and project management advice on aspects of AD plant design such as biogas upgrading technologies, CO2 capture units, bioreactor design, planning & permitting and plant expansion opportunities.
