Image for Experiment and Simulation Study on the Effect of Spray Droplets Impact on the Coating Wall of Bipropellant Aeroengine

Pizzas will be served at 12:30.

Abstract:

After brief introductions of my institute and my space propulsion projects, I will talk about experimental studies on the impact between droplets and real coating surface samples measured by high-speed cameras. We analyzed the development of spray droplets after impinging and its effects on combustion and heat transfer of the bipropellant engine.  Employing the experiments, a mathematical model of the impact is established.  Considering a chemical reaction model and heat transfer, CFD simulations were carried out to verify the accuracies of the developed model.

Bio:

Senior Engineer Zhen Zhang is the designer director for aerospace bipropellant engine at the Beijing Institute of Control Engineering, China Academy of Space Technology. His interests cover both propellant valve design and bipropellant engine research. As a young backbone of Chinese aerospace industry, he has presided over some major research projects in the field of propulsion technology, many of which have been developed in the engineering applications with good reputations. Among them, the new generation of 25N thruster was successfully applied to the new exploration satellite dispatched in July this year. He also has published 20 academic papers and 30 patents, receiving many awards from institutions and Chinese professional associations.
