Abstract: GICONSIME is a research group belonging to the University of Oviedo whose main lines of work are focused on sustainable construction and numerical simulation. Recently this research group has  manufactured a furnace and thus established a new line of work focused on the fire resistance of structural elements. In this line of research Juan Enrique Martínez is doing his PhD. The main tests carried out have been the study of composite slabs made of lightweight concrete and steel, as well as timber joints. The data obtained is important not only to know the behavior of the elements but also for the validation of numerical simulations.

Bio: Juan Enrique Martinez is a second year PhD student at the University of Oviedo and is currently doing a doctoral stay at the BRE Center for Fire Safety Engineering. He earned his bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Oviedo. Currently his working in a research group calls GICONSIME at the University of Oviedo.
