Abstract:
Dependency Minimal Recursion Semantics (DMRS) is designed to combine the expressivity of a logical representation with tractability in applications. I will outline some of the uses we have been making of DMRS, concentrating in particular on models of distributional semantics where DMRS provides compositional structure. I'll go on to talk about ongoing work on DMRS composition, where the objective is to model constraints on the syntax-semantic interface as local violations of isomorphism between syntactic and semantic dependencies.
Bio:
Ann Copestake started doing research in Computational Linguistics at the University of Cambridge in 1985. From 1994 to 2000 she worked at CSLI, Stanford, where she became part of the LinGO project, building broad-coverage grammars using HPSG. She returned to Cambridge in 2000 and is now a Professor there.
