Abstract:

A testing programme was undertaken over two seasons using novel equipment to view boundary layer formation and boiling inside a 1m diameter pressure vessel during fire engulfment. A full diameter (1m) window allowed for PIV and conventional photography during a 14MW fire engulfment. An overview of the test series and initial results will be presented.
