ESALA Architectural History and Theory Seminar Series Each semester, the Architectural History and Theory - MSc programme welcomes around five guest speakers and colleagues to present an evening seminar on their research. Seminars take place on selected Tuesdays at 5.15pm, usually in Minto House on Chambers Street, opposite the National Museum of Scotland. The events are a fantastic opportunity to hear about the latest research in the field from researchers working across the UK, Europe and beyond; last year, for example, we had guests from Harvard University, Estonian Academy of Arts, the British School at Rome, the Universities of Melbourne, Liverpool, York and London, Glasgow School of Art and Historic Environment Scotland. The seminars are free and everyone is welcome.   *** PAST TALKS *** Tuesday 25 September 2018 Modern Playhouses: Theatres, Leisure, Citizenship & Urbanity in Britain, 1945-85 Dr Alistair Fair ESALA Architectural History and Theory Seminar Series Tuesday 25 September 2018, 17:15 - 18:30 Venue: Minto House, 20 Chambers Street, EH1 1JZ http://talks.is.ed.ac.uk/talk/1565/show Tuesday 09 October 2018 A Corpus of Thirteenth-Century Brick Rum Seljuq Minarets Dr Richard McClary ESALA Architectural History and Theory Seminar Series Tuesday 09 October 2018, 17:15 - 18:30 Venue: Minto House, 20 Chambers Street, EH1 1JZ http://talks.is.ed.ac.uk/talk/1566/show Tuesday 23 October 2018 Civic Centre: Architecture, Civic Design, and the Municipal Project in Early Twentieth Century Britain Dr Neal Shashore (University of Liverpool) ESALA Architectural History and Theory Seminar Series Tuesday 23 October 2018, 17:15 - 18:30 Venue: Minto House, 20 Chambers Street, EH1 1JZ http://talks.is.ed.ac.uk/talk/1567/show Tuesday 20 November 2018 British Breakfast on Air: TV-am and the Construction of a Postmodern Space Dr Léa-Catherine Szacka (University of Manchester) ESALA Architectural History and Theory Seminar Series Tuesday 20 November 2018, 17:15 - 18:30 Venue: Minto House, 20 Chambers Street, EH1 1JZ http://talks.is.ed.ac.uk/talk/1568/show Tuesday 04 December 2018 An Athenian Sentinel?
